Since 1928, the Tryon Garden Club members have been dedicated to the conservation of Pearson’s Falls & Glen, the advancement of gardening and the protection of wildflowers, birds, and wildlife.

Who We Are…

Today, we are a vibrant group of individuals, coming from all walks of life and experiences.  We are united by a common interest in contributing to our magnificent natural world.  Whether in our own gardens or at Pearson’s Falls and Glen, we are fulfilling the Club’s mission – to protect, beautify, and educate.

The Club is active in three general areas:

  • Preserving and protecting Pearson’s Falls and Glen and making it available for public enjoyment

  • Civic beautification including the Tryon Depot Garden

  • Education of our members and the community at-large

The Tryon Garden Club’s core mission is the conservation and stewardship of Pearson's Falls and Glen, a Blue Ridge Natural Heritage Site, a North Carolina Birding Trail Site, and a property included in the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Gardens.

Protecting this natural treasure, with its rich native plant communities and cascading falls, guides everything the committee does.

That commitment has grown over the years through habitat stewardship, native plantings, and the careful preservation of the Glen's natural character for future generations to enjoy. This work has been made possible through generous support from Kirby Endowment Grants via the Polk County Community Foundation and the Town of Tryon.

Because conservation extends beyond any one site, the committee collaborates with local businesses and nonprofits who share its goals, including Conserving Carolina, the Gardening for Life Project, the Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce, the Polk County Appearance Commission, the Saluda Business Association, the South Carolina Native Plant Society, and the Tryon Historical Museum - together working to protect and celebrate the natural heritage of Pearson's Falls and Glen and the broader region it represents.
